When you talk about Elite programs in Greater Miami South Florida Pop Warner, you have to mention The Palmetto Raiders, which is one of the top Varsity ( Formerly Midgets) programs in The United States year after year. The reason for the Success of the Palmetto Raiders is because they have a precise system in place that works!! When you face Coach Knight and The Raiders, everyone knows that The "Wish Bone" attack is coming, early and often and you know that you have stop it! Over the years he has added various formations and alignments to his offense making it diverse and potent, but 9 times out of 10, you have to expect the wishbone to take center stage . This year's team has been on fire accumulating a 8-1 record so far after defeating a very scrappy Coconut Grove Hornets team by a score of 14-0. In the second round of the divisional playoffs.
Previously The Palmetto Raiders suffered an early-season loss in week 3 to the Tacolcy Red Raiders by the score of 13-8. The Raiders proceeded to lick their wounds, regrouped, and avenged their one and only loss by defeating Tacolcy 16-6 in week 7. This Saturday November 12th, they will Face Northwest Boys & Girls Club Falcons @ 2pm @ Tropical Park for the GMSFPW ( Greater Miami South Florida Pop Warner) Sean Taylor Classic Division 1 Varsity Championship ! Coach Knight and his staff could possibly win their 10th Superbowl, which would be an amazing accomplishment in itself! Let's get to know who Coach Arties A. Knight really is.... He serves not only as a football coach but he also has a very successful 24 year career as a physical education teacher. He is also considered a mentor, a role model, and is basically the face of the Palmetto Raiders organization.
Lets get to know his history and his 2016 Varsity Squad !

Whats your expectations this season ?
Knight : " Our expectations are very high! We always feel that we are always in the hunt for a Championship each year. Anything short of The Sean Taylor classic is absolute failure!!! We feel that we should be in the running to compete for a National Championship once again this year. And we feel good about our chances. But then again we feel good about our chances every year! Not to disrespect our opponents, but we study hard, we prepare vigorously, and we simply think that we are the most prepared team around".
What was the first score of your last meeting with North West Boys Club Falcons?
Palmetto Raiders-28 NWBC -0 BUT THAT SCORE "MEANS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO US! It is 0-0 now and that Falcons team is good "!

THE Beginning
Coach Knight spent 1 year as a Football head coach for the South Dade Rams (1st year coaching 1996) , then began his coaching career with the Palmetto Raiders 1997. He founded a baseball program, a softball program, a flag football program all while continuing to coach tackle football. As a head coach for tackle football, he has NEVER had a losing season. Him and his staff have accumulated 9 Greater Miami South Florida Pop Warner Bowl Championships (S.T.C) ' 01, '02, 03, '06, '07, '08, '12, '14, '15. (We lost in '09 to Liberty City, and '11 to Florida City in 2 OT the eventual National Champions) In '09 Coach Knight was an assistant coach for the first and ONLY time in his life! The Old ball coach has basically won 9 out 11 appearances in The S.T.C. Including 5 Southeast United States Region Championships and 2 National Championships.

Coach Knight is The most winning Head coach in the history of the Palmetto Raiders Organization!!!! That is an awesome accomplishment considering that the program dates back all the way to 1965. Coach Knight also serves as a member on the executive board of the Palmetto Raiders Youth Development Club, Inc." He and his coaching staff have found vital pieces along the way both old and new but, The Originals have been together for a 20 year span. As some coaches come and go, you can bet your bottom dollar that the foundation and the System is always in place which keeps the winning tradition alive and well !
